MICROTECH® hardness testers are a range of instruments that are used to measure the hardness of various metals and alloys by various measurement methods.
The main difference between hardness testers is that they are used to control the hardness of a material without destroying its structure. The constant need for measuring the hardness of materials arises constantly in any production or research institutes in the process of developing new designs and materials, as well as in the input control of the material.
According to the principle of operation, hardness testers can be divided into ultrasonic, traditional hardness testers, dynamic hardness testers, as well as combined ones.
Depending on the properties and structure of the material, as well as the dimensions of the measured workpiece, stationary and portable hardness testers of various operating principles and designs are also used. Hardness can be determined on various scales, today the most commonly used hardness scales at Ukrainian enterprises are Brinell, Rockwell, Vickers and Shore. The control of soft products is often carried out on the Shore or Brinell scale, for harder materials, the Rockwell hardness scale is used, and for very hard materials, the Vickers scale. The choice of the hardness scale of the product occurs in accordance with the design and technical documentation for the product.
MICROTECH® portable hardness testers are used for quick express determination of the hardness of the surface layer of materials in field and laboratory conditions - by a dynamic method (the principle of the ratio of indenter rebound velocities before and after impact with the surface of the tested part)
